How does Alpha-Stim® work?
Alpha-Stim® is a clinically proven medical device – a cranial electrostimulator – used for brain electrostimulation. During the procedure, a unique and patented electrical current of a special configuration is transmitted to the brain through ear electrodes, which harmoniously balances the activity of delta, alpha, theta and other brain waves.
The human brain generates electromagnetic waves at five different frequencies: alpha, beta, gamma, delta, and theta. These waves of different frequencies are emitted by the brain continuously and influence what a person does and says, what they think and how they feel.
Delta waves (0-4 Hz frequency) occurs when we fall into a deep sleep. This state is necessary for recovery and healing.
Theta waves (4-8 Hz frequency) are associated with meditation, intuition, and deep relaxation, and were first observed in meditating monks. This state induces visions, dreamlike images, and inspirations.
Alpha waves (8-14 Hz frequency) are associated with stress reduction, relaxation, positivity, efficiency, peace, and security. When these waves predominate, a person is characterized by good health, calm and smooth thinking, and a positive mood. When alpha wave activity is reduced, signs of stress, anxiety, and indications of brain disorders and diseases appear.
Beta waves (14-30 Hz frequency) are associated with concentration, attentiveness, focus, analytical thinking, problem solving, and energy. However, these waves are also associated with stress, worry, fear, anxiety, and tension, as a large proportion of beta waves results in a higher amount of stress hormones being released.
Gamma waves (frequency 30-100 Hz) – these are very high-frequency waves that are dominant when a person is learning and processing information. If hyperactivity, panic, great fear, fright, tension, and extremely productive mental activity are detected, this usually occurs in the presence of gamma wave activity.
