What is BIOPTRON light?

The BIOPTRON light therapy system is designed and manufactured in such a way that the light emitted by this medical device can be described as: polarised light BIOPTRON light is polarised: its waves move (vibrate) in parallel planes. The polarisation is obtained using the advanced Brewster multilayer mirror system (named after the scientist who discovered this technology). The Brewster mirror helps to polarise the electromagnetic spectrum emitted by the BIOPTRON device. Linear polarisation using reflection, as used in the BIOPTRON therapy system, is very effective and the light emitted by BIOPTRON devices reaches 95% of the light intensity of the BIOPTRON system. The degree of polarisation is 95%.

Polychromatic light

In contrast to the laser system, which is limited to a very narrow bandwidth, the BIOPTRON system covers a wide bandwidth. Wavelengths range from 480 to 3400 nm. This spectrum includes the visible light range and part of the infrared. The electromagnetic spectrum of BIOPTRON light does not include ultraviolet (UV) radiation. And if there is no UV light, there is no risk of harmful UV exposure.

Incoherent light

BIOPTRON light is incoherent or out-of-phase. Unlike a laser, BIOPTRON light is not characterised by temporally or spatially synchronised light wave sequences. This means that the phases of the waves do not coincide, so the intensity of the light neither increases nor decreases.

Low-energy light

BIOPTRON light has a low energy density; it reaches the treated area with a constant and uniform intensity. This energy density has a biostimulating effect. With the BIOPTRON Light Therapy System, the light dose can be determined with great precision.

Power density

Unlike natural light, BIOPTRON light is not subject to changes in the day or the season. Therefore, with BIOPTRON Light Therapy, the brightness and dose can be accurately set. In addition, the effect of light is also defined by its power density. Power density is measured in mW/cm2. As this quantity is measured on the surface of the skin, it varies according to the intensity of the light source and its distance from the treatment area.
The power density of BIOPTRON light is approximately 40 mW/cm2 when the therapy is performed at a distance of 10 cm. This corresponds to an average energy density (total flux) of 2.4 J/cm2 per minute.
